Job Summary -- Director of Safety Gully Transportation is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Safety to lead the company's transportation safety, compliance, and driver-training programs. This leadership position is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture while ensuring company operations comply with DOT, FMCSA, and other applicable federal and state transportation regulations. The Director of Safety will oversee driver safety and compliance, accident and incident review, DOT audits, driver qualification requirements, Hours-of-Service and ELD compliance, safety performance, training programs, and the development and implementation of company safety policies and procedures. This position works closely with executive leadership, operations, dispatch, recruiting, maintenance, and professional drivers to identify risk, improve safety performance, maintain regulatory compliance, and support the continued growth of Gully Transportation. Qualifications & Requirements Previous experience in transportation safety, fleet safety, DOT compliance, or a related trucking/transportation leadership role Strong working knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations Knowledge of Hours-of-Service (HOS), ELD requirements, driver qualification files, drug and alcohol testing requirements, and commercial motor vehicle compliance Experience with accident and incident investigation, documentation, corrective action, and risk reduction Ability to oversee and develop driver safety and training programs Ability to monitor safety performance, identify trends, and implement corrective measures Strong leadership and team-development skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving abilities Ability to communicate effectively with professional drivers, dispatch, operations, recruiting, maintenance, executive leadership, regulatory agencies, and insurance partners Comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation environment and responding appropriately to time-sensitive safety matters Proficiency with transportation safety systems, electronic records, reporting, and standard business software Professional judgment, discretion, accountability, and a strong commitment to creating a positive safety culture Transportation/trucking industry experience strongly preferred Safety, compliance, risk-management, or related certifications are a plus
