Position Overview The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) serves as the primary on-site safety representative and is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing the project's Accident Prevention Plan (APP) . , and contract requirements. Essential Responsibilities Conduct daily construction site safety inspections and prepare detailed safety reports. Develop, review, implement, and update the Accident Prevention Plan (APP), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), crane plans, and rigging plans. Lead new employee safety orientations and provide ongoing safety education for project personnel and subcontractors. Partner with the Site Superintendent and Quality Control Manager to address safety requirements for upcoming phases of work. Oversee site-specific safety programs, including confined space entry, hazardous material abatement, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and other high-risk activities. Ensure compliance with

1926, and project-specific safety standards. Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses while completing all required documentation and reporting. Monitor subcontractor compliance with contractual safety requirements and applicable regulations. Maintain

logs and all required project safety documentation. Keep current safety regulations, manuals, and reference materials readily available on-site. Identify safety deficiencies, track corrective actions, and verify timely resolution. Maintain current Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) for all hazardous materials used on the project. Complete monthly contractor safety self-evaluations. Perform daily equipment inspections and pre-task hazard assessments. Conduct weekly toolbox talks and project safety meetings. Present safety updates during owner meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and project planning sessions. Communicate effectively with project leadership, government quality assurance personnel, subcontractors, and skilled trades. Maintain accurate safety records and ensure timely submission of all required reports. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum of 10 years of construction industry experience. At least 5 years of experience serving as a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) on construction projects. Experience supporting projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and/or the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) . OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification. Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and internet-based software applications.
