Food Safety & Quality Manager Holland, MI | On-site | Food-Grade Cold Storage A growing temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics organization is seeking a hands-on Food Safety & Quality Manager to lead site-level safety, food safety, and quality programs at an established food-grade distribution operation in Holland, Michigan. This is a highly visible, floor-oriented role for someone who enjoys partnering with Operations, strengthening audit readiness, protecting product integrity, and building a strong culture of safety and quality. The facility is a 223,000-square-foot, BRCGS-accredited operation supporting frozen packaged retail food products across freezer and cooler environments. The operation is stable and growing, creating an opportunity for the right leader to build strong relationships across the site and continue raising the bar for safety, food safety, quality, and continuous improvement. What You'll Own
- Lead and maintain site-level safety, food safety, and quality programs in alignment with regulatory, customer, and certification requirements, including
GFSI/BRCGS.
- Maintain strong documentation, records, and compliance logs to support ongoing audit and regulatory readiness.
- Conduct internal site audits and support customer, second-party, third-party, and certification audits.
- Investigate safety incidents, near misses, and customer or consumer complaints; perform root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate safety and food safety committees, recurring compliance walks, follow-up actions, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Develop, maintain, and execute emergency action plans, including fire, severe weather, and ammonia release procedures.
- Deliver and coordinate safety and food safety training for new hires and ongoing refresher training.
- Partner closely with Operations, Inventory, HR, and corporate Quality and Health & Safety teams on process improvements, investigations, training, and corrective actions.
- Serve as a visible site-level resource for customers, associates, and leadership on safety, food safety, quality, and compliance. What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated food safety and regulatory compliance experience within food storage, food distribution, or food manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, USDA, and FDA requirements.
- Experience supporting or leading internal, customer, and third-party audits; exposure to AIB, GFSI, BRCGS, or comparable food-safety certification standards is strongly valued.
- Hands-on experience with investigations, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, documentation, and audit readiness.
- Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence associates and leaders without relying solely on direct reporting authority.
- A practical, floor-oriented leadership style and a commitment to training, awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Experience That Can Translate Well Direct cold-storage or 3PL experience is preferred, but strong candidates from adjacent food manufacturing or food distribution environments are encouraged to apply. Work Environment & Schedule
- On-site in Holland, MI; typical schedule is Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
- Role requires regular presence in a multi-temperature warehouse environment, including freezer conditions down to approximately -20°F.
- Occasional overtime, weekends, or extended hours may be required based on operational needs.

- $80,000-$90,000 base salary, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual performance bonus.
