POSITION SUMMARY

New Malwa Express Inc. is seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Manager to oversee the safety, compliance, and risk-management operations for our growing semi-truck fleet. The Safety Manager will be responsible for maintaining compliance with DOT, FMCSA, FMCSR, OSHA, and company safety policies , while working closely with Operations, Dispatch, Drivers, Maintenance, and Management. The ideal candidate is a hands-on transportation safety professional who understands the realities of operating a commercial motor carrier and can hold drivers and operations accountable while maintaining strong communication and documentation. This position requires someone who is organized, responsive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced trucking environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDOT & FMCSA COMPLIANCE

Maintain compliance with applicable DOT and FMCSA regulations. Monitor and manage driver qualification files (DQFs). Ensure driver licenses, medical cards, MVRs, Clearinghouse requirements, and required credentials remain current. Monitor and maintain company safety records and compliance documentation. Conduct regular audits of driver files, equipment records, and company safety procedures. Stay current on changes to

DOT/FMCSA

regulations and communicate updates to management and drivers. Assist with preparation for DOT audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inquiries.

DRIVER SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

Monitor driver compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) regulations. Review ELD logs and identify violations, errors, and recurring compliance issues. Track and address speeding, harsh braking, following distance, seatbelt violations, distracted driving, and other unsafe driving behaviors. Conduct driver safety counseling and corrective-action meetings when necessary. Develop and maintain driver safety performance records. Coordinate driver training, orientation, safety meetings, and ongoing education. Enforce company safety policies consistently and fairly. Work with Operations to identify drivers requiring additional training or corrective action.

FLEET & EQUIPMENT SAFETY

Work closely with Maintenance to ensure trucks and trailers remain in safe operating condition. Monitor inspection, repair, and maintenance compliance. Review DVIRs and ensure reported defects are properly addressed. Monitor roadside inspection results and identify recurring equipment issues. Assist with corrective action related to vehicle defects and out-of-service violations. Ensure required safety equipment and emergency equipment are maintained.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Safety Manager will be expected to actively monitor the fleet and may be responsible for: Reviewing ELD/HOS violations. Reviewing driver alerts and safety events. Following up on accidents and incidents. Reviewing inspection reports. Monitoring driver compliance. Handling driver onboarding. Updating safety and compliance files. Following up with drivers regarding safety concerns. Coordinating corrective actions. Communicating safety concerns to Operations and Management. Reviewing upcoming license, medical card, inspection, and credential expirations. Maintaining accurate safety documentation.

QUALIFICATIONSREQUIRED

3+ years of experience in transportation safety, fleet safety, DOT compliance, or a related trucking position. Strong knowledge of

FMCSA/DOT

regulations. Experience working with commercial motor carriers and semi-truck fleets. Experience reviewing ELD/HOS records. Experience handling truck accidents and insurance claims. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with professional drivers and management. Ability to enforce policies while maintaining professionalism. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently and make sound safety decisions.

PREFERRED

Previous experience as a Transportation Safety Manager, Safety Director, DOT Compliance Manager, Fleet Safety Manager, or similar position. Experience with Samsara or other ELD/telematics platforms. Experience with driver qualification files and DOT audits. Experience with FMCSA Portal/SMS. Experience with accident investigation and claims management. Certified Director of Safety (CDS), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar certification. Previous CDL or trucking operations experience.

SCHEDULE

Full-Time This is an active transportation position and may require flexibility outside of standard business hours when dealing with accidents, incidents, roadside issues, or other urgent safety matters.

COMPENSATION
