A Safety Manager inspects work environments and procedures for health and safety concerns, and develops programs to reduce the risk of injury or illness. May specialize in a particular type of industry or in certain kind of safety and health risk, such as radiation, hazardous chemicals, or ergonomics. Works in offices, factories, or mines.
Our client is looking for an experienced Manager of Safety and Risk to join their company. In this role, you'll be responsible for creating and overseeing health and safety protocols for the company and ensuring that staff members are properly informed regarding emergency preparedness, use of protective equipment, and accident protocol. You will work with various client sites with differing safety needs and risk. Extensive knowledge and experience with Multi-State/Multi-Location Workers Compensation in a light industrial and/or Warehousing environment is necessary for this role. The ideal candidate will be an expert in Safety, Risk Management, and Workers Compensation - to include Audits, Policy Renewals, and Claims Management. To ensure success as a safety manager, you should display exceptional knowledge of company safety policies and relevant occupational safety and health administration (OSHA) standards. Ultimately, an outstanding safety director should be able to identify opportunities to minimize workplace health hazards quickly and efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage, track, and resolve workers' compensation claims across multiple states, including communication with carriers, adjusters, and injured employees. Conduct ongoing audits of workers' compensation codes to ensure proper classifications, accuracy in billing, and compliance with state/federal regulations. Develop, update, and implement injury reporting and response protocols across all branches and client sites. Generate and analyze payroll reports for workers' compensation audits, claims management, and insurance renewal purposes. Partner with recruiters, branch managers, and leadership to provide safety guidance and ensure compliance with risk management practices. Conduct client and site-specific safety reviews, ensuring the company remains compliant with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and state-specific standards nationwide. Provide training and resources to staff and associates to promote a safety-first culture. Manage communication with insurance brokers, carriers, and internal leadership on risk and safety matters. Conduct confidential exit interviews with employees as requested, ensuring sensitive matters remain for designated leadership review only. Preparing monthly or annual safety reports and presenting the information to management. Collaborating with management to plan and implement a safety protocol budget.
Qualification Requirements:
Required:
Minimum 3 years of experience in risk, safety, or compliance within a staffing agency Strong understanding of workers' compensation laws, claims handling, and risk auditing. Proven ability to process COIs, endorsements, and manage multiple risk-related documents. Knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and multi-state safety compliance standards. Must have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, reporting, data analysis). Strong analytical and reporting skills, particularly with payroll and claims data. Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree in safety management, environmental safety, or a similar field. At least 3 years' experience as a safety coordinator or manager for a staffing firm/agency Light Industrial, warehouse, general labor experience, preferred.

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across teams and with external partners. Conflict resolution and negotiation skills when handling claims, employee concerns, or compliance issues. Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines across different states. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite; HRIS/Payroll system experience preferred.
