Plant Manager Position Summary The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a culture of safety within a solar manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting safe production processes, environmental sustainability, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Management

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs aligned with OSHA standards and company goals
• Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and incident investigations
• Track, analyze, and report safety performance metrics (TRIR, LTIR, near misses, etc.)
• Drive a proactive safety culture through audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs Environmental Compliance
• Ensure compliance with EPA, NC Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ), and local environmental regulations
• Manage air permits, wastewater permits, stormwater programs, and hazardous waste handling (RCRA compliance)
• Monitor and report environmental data, including emissions, waste streams, and sustainability metrics
• Support corporate sustainability and ESG initiatives Health & Industrial Hygiene
• Oversee industrial hygiene programs including exposure monitoring (chemical, noise, particulate)
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE
• Lead ergonomics and wellness initiatives to reduce workplace injuries
• Coordinate occupational health programs, including medical surveillance Training & Development
• Develop and conduct EHS training programs (new hire onboarding, ongoing compliance training, emergency response)
• Ensure compliance with required certifications such as forklift safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and hazard communication Emergency Preparedness
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including fire safety, evacuation procedures, and spill response
• Coordinate drills and serve as incident commander during emergencies
• Liaise with local emergency response agencies in Greenville/Pitt County Leadership & Collaboration
• Partner with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to integrate EHS into manufacturing processes
• Lead EHS committee meetings and engage employees in safety initiatives
• Manage and mentor EHS staff (if applicable)
• Communicate effectively with leadership regarding risks, compliance status, and improvements Qualifications Required
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing (solar, semiconductor, or high-tech preferred)
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and RCRA regulations
• Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis
• Ability to lead audits, inspections, and compliance programs Preferred
• Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM
• Experience in renewable energy or solar panel manufacturing environments
• Knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience Key Competencies
