Job Description

Basic Function:
The Site Monitor is responsible for safeguarding mine property, equipment, and personnel to the best of their ability. This role ensures site security, monitors for safety hazards, responds promptly to incidents when required and after normal working hours and janitorial for all office trailers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor storage facilities and mine site access.
  • Monitor surveillance systems and report suspicious activity or security breaches to HSLP Supervisor.
  • Monitor ADR Operators via radio contact and surveillance systems to ensure safety of staff conducting higher risk tasks.
  • Check for fire hazards, gas leaks, or unsafe conditions, and escalate issues immediately if any located.
  • Control site access by verifying credentials of staff, visitors and contractors.
  • Maintain detailed shift logs and incident reports as required.
  • Conduct site specific hazard training as needed and complete 5000-23's to document that training.
  • Assist emergency services in case of accidents or security threats, including coordinating with emergency dispatch in town as directed.
  • Housekeeping in all office trailers.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in security/loss prevention, mining operations, or similar experience preferred.
  • MSHA Part 48B for Surface Mining is preferred.
  • Must have valid drivers license.
  • Ability to work independently in remote and rugged environments.
  • Strong observation and communication skills.
  • Physically fit to assist in emergency situations, and able to become certified in First Aid/CPR/AED.
  • Experience in emergency response is preferred.
Physical Demands:
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed; respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
  • Employee is occasionally required to bend and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30-40lbs.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions; exposure to wet and/or humid outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat.
  • Ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Physically capable of sitting or standing, shoveling, and performing other types of physical work.
  • Must be willing to work shift work or otherwise assigned.
  • Must be a self-starter.
