Job Description

Purpose:
This document describes the responsibilities and key functions of the Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager at Klosterman Bakery.
Summary:
The Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager also acts as the SQF Practitioner. The SQF Practitioner leads the development and implementation of the SQF Food Safety Management System. The FSQA Manager has the overall responsibility of managing the Quality and Sanitation Departments at the Hebron Klosterman Bakery. The FSQA Manager will manage the Quality and Sanitation Departments in a way that ensures company goals of providing safe and quality food to consumers while achieving the financial goals of Klosterman Baking Company. The FSQA Manager will ensure all regulatory, statutory, customer and company requirements are met through the development of finished products that complies with all laws and regulations governing food safety and quality.
Responsibilities:
The Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager shall ensure the Quality Department is appropriately staffed, organized and aligned to meet all food safety and quality objectives and key performance indicators. The FSQA Manager does this by performing the following key job tasks and functions including: Works on cross-functional teams with Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation and Warehouse Departments to ensure the food safety of all finished products produced at the Hebron Klosterman Bakery. Works in conjunction with Klosterman Baking Company Corporate Teams in the development stages of new and/or trial finished products to ensure a food safe and quality finished product is provided to the customer and end consumer. Responsible for all bakery compliance activities and initiatives which include: o Federal Laws and Regulations o Statutory Laws and Regulations o Local Laws and Regulations o SQF Requirements o AIB Requirements o Customer Requirements o Company Requirements Must attend all corporate and site meetings as required including: o FSQA Manager Quarterly Meetings o Management Review Meetings o Food Safety Team and Quality Council Meetings o HACCP Team Meetings o Safety Meetings o Staff Meetings o Sensory Panels o Food Defense Team Meetings o Supplier / Co-Manufacturer Meetings o Daily SQDP Meetings The FSQA Manager must obtain the following certifications at minimum: o Food Defense Plan Preparation and Reanalysis o HACCP Certification o SQF Practitioner Certification o Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) for Human Food o Internal Auditor Certification Maintain and develop the SQF Food Safety Management System and SQF Food Safety Manual Coordinate and facilitate all Food Safety Team and Quality Council Meetings Coordinate and facilitate annual Management Review Meeting Coordinate and facilitate annual Food Safety Plan Review and Hazard Analysis Maintain all raw materials and finished product testing data and analysis in site specific logs as required Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. Ensure site compliance will all current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP s) Maintains non-conforming ingredient and finished product holds and provides disposition of materials placed on hold. Provides guidance and oversight of the sanitation department at the facility. Oversight of contract service providers including: o Pest Control Services o Chemical Control Services o Keepstock Services o Scale Calibration Services o External Laboratory Services o Any other contract service provider as necessary Leads all regulatory audits and inspections Leads annual SQF audit and inspection Communicates defined SQF Audit Blackout Dates to Certification Body at least 60 days before the SQF recertification date. Responds to customer complaints and provides corrective actions as required Coordinates and facilitates weekly internal audits and inspections of the facility Any other job task required to maintain compliance with above mentioned regulations and requirements.
Verification:
Verification of this job description will be conducted by the Site Leader through daily observation of job functions.
Training:
Training on this job description will take place initially upon hire, annually, as a refresher, and as needed with changes to personnel and job functions.
Records:
Employee training records are retained per Klosterman Baking Company record retention requirements.
