OTR — Lower 48 States | Dry Van & Reefer About SBED Trucking SB Expedite Delivery Inc is an OTR motor carrier operating throughout the lower 48 states, hauling dry van and refrigerated freight. We are seeking an experienced Fleet & Safety Manager to oversee our fleet, driver safety, DOT/FMCSA compliance, and equipment readiness. We operate our own in-house truck and trailer repair shop with company mechanics, allowing us to maintain and repair our equipment efficiently and keep our fleet on the road. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day fleet and safety operations for tractors and trailers. Ensure compliance with
DOT/FMCSA
regulations, including HOS/ELD, driver qualification files, medical cards, MVRs, inspections, and required documentation. Monitor driver safety, including telematics, speeding, hard braking, HOS violations, inspections, and accident performance. Conduct driver safety coaching, training, and corrective action when necessary. Manage and investigate accidents, incidents, roadside inspections, and safety violations. Maintain accurate fleet, maintenance, safety, and compliance records. Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with our in-house mechanics and shop. Monitor equipment condition, downtime, inspections, tires, brakes, lights, refrigeration units, and overall road readiness. Work with drivers and operations to resolve equipment, safety, and compliance issues. Monitor CSA/SMS performance and identify areas requiring corrective action. Assist with DOT audits and regulatory compliance reviews. Track fleet maintenance costs, safety performance, accidents, and equipment downtime. Help establish and enforce company safety policies and procedures. Work closely with ownership, dispatch, drivers, and maintenance personnel to maintain a safe, reliable, and compliant fleet. Qualifications Previous experience in trucking, fleet management, transportation safety, or compliance. Strong knowledge of
DOT/FMCSA
regulations and OTR operations. Experience with semi-tractors, trailers, and commercial vehicle maintenance. Knowledge of HOS/ELD compliance and driver qualification requirements. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to hold drivers accountable while maintaining a professional working relationship. CDL, commercial driving, fleet management, or maintenance experience is a plus. Ideal Candidate We are looking for a hands-on, experienced trucking professional who understands both the safety and equipment sides of the business. The right person will be proactive, organized, firm but fair, and capable of managing multiple fleet and driver issues in a fast-paced OTR environment.
