Position Overview:
GPT Renewables is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support a long-term project at McNary Dam in Umatilla, Oregon . This position will be responsible for managing onsite safety activities while also developing, maintaining, and administering project safety documentation and EHS plans. The ideal candidate will have strong industrial or power generation safety experience, previous experience working on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects, and a working knowledge of

requirements.

Available for eligible travelers Responsibilities Serve as the project Site Safety Manager and primary onsite safety representative. Implement and enforce project-specific safety programs, policies, and procedures. Ensure compliance with
USACE EM 385-1-1, OSHA
requirements, client requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations. Conduct daily site safety inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments. Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and coordinate corrective actions with project leadership. Prepare, maintain, and update Accident Prevention Plans (APPs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), EHS plans, safety reports, and other required documentation. Lead or participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, orientations, and training. Review work activities to ensure appropriate PPE, fall protection, rescue planning, and safe work procedures are in place. Support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and required reporting. Coordinate closely with project management, field supervision, craft personnel, client representatives, and USACE personnel. Maintain required safety records, certifications, inspections, and documentation. Balance responsibilities between approximately 50% field/site safety oversight and 50% safety documentation/EHS planning. Promote a strong safety culture and proactively address risks before work begins. Required Qualifications Previous industrial, power plant, or power generation safety experience is required. Previous USACE project experience is required. Strong working knowledge of
EM 385-1-1
requirements. OSHA 30 certification Appropriate SSHO training/qualifications for USACE projects. Preferred hydroelectric or dam project experience. Experience preparing and managing safety documentation, including APPs, AHAs, EHS plans, and related project records. Ability to effectively manage both field safety responsibilities and administrative/documentation requirements. Strong communication, leadership, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to work onsite in Umatilla, Oregon for a long-term, multi-year assignment. Must meet all project and USACE approval requirements. Local and regional candidates are encouraged to apply due to the long-term nature of the assignment; qualified travelers will also be considered Must be able to successfully complete required pre-employment screening, including a drug screen and background check.
