Are you living your life's work? Penn Medicine has a Director of Quality, Safety, Performance Improvement and Privacy opening for our Clinical Care Associates division. The Director, Quality, Safety, Performance Improvement & Privacy for CCA Regional Practices provides strategic and operational leadership for ambulatory quality, patient safety, performance improvement, clinical effectiveness, and privacy programs across CCA. The role reports to and partners closely with the CCA Regional Practices Chief Medical Officer, entity executive leadership, physician and operational leaders, practice leadership, and other health system quality/safety stakeholders to advance quality outcomes, improve patient and staff safety, and meet related entity goals. The Director establishes the vision, strategy, and infrastructure necessary to achieve excellence in ambulatory quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and clinical performance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high reliability. Along with the entity CMO, the Director supports and provides oversight of CCA's Quality, Safety, Privacy, and Performance Improvement functions and serves as a liaison to health system quality, patient safety, privacy, analytics, risk management, legal, and operational leadership. The position is responsible for developing and implementing strategic and operational plans that align ambulatory quality initiatives with organizational priorities, UPHS Blueprint for Quality principles, and patient-centered care transformation efforts.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute the ambulatory quality, safety, and performance improvement strategy aligned with organizational goals. Establish quality metrics, performance targets, and accountability measures to improve clinical outcomes, patient safety, and operational effectiveness. Lead enterprise-wide quality improvement initiatives using evidence-based methodologies, including Lean, Six Sigma, and PDSA. Partner with clinical and operational leaders to drive improvements in quality, safety, patient access, care coordination, patient experience, and practice performance. Oversee quality, safety, and operational reporting, leveraging data analytics to identify opportunities, measure outcomes, and sustain improvements. Promote best practices, change management, and a culture of continuous improvement across regional practices. Direct ambulatory patient safety programs, including event reporting, investigations, root cause analyses, risk mitigation, and safety culture initiatives. Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, medication management, emergency preparedness, and environmental safety standards. Collaborate with Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and Information Security teams to address regulatory requirements and reduce organizational risk. Serve as Privacy Officer for regional practices, overseeing privacy compliance, education, risk mitigation, and policy implementation. Develop and deliver education, training, and communication strategies supporting quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and organizational improvement efforts. Lead, mentor, and develop Quality & Safety team members while building organizational capability in quality improvement and high reliability practices. Support patient experience initiatives by addressing clinical concerns, patient feedback, and opportunities for service excellence. Lead vaccine compliance and oversight efforts, including education, monitoring, inventory management, and safe administration practices. Partner with operational leadership to support workforce safety, emergency preparedness, business continuity, and policy compliance.
Credentials:
Lean Six Sigma Certification (Required) PSDA, Lean, Six Sigma, and or IHI improvement training Project Management Professional Certification Lean Silver or Gold certification,
CPHQ, PMP, CPPS, FACHE Education or Equivalent Experience:
Master of Arts or Science (Required) Master's degree in Nursing, Health Care, Management Engineering, or related field 3+ years experience in Health Care Ambulatory Care Quality Management Performance Improvement or Operations 5+ years experience in a leadership capacity 4+ years in depth understanding and technical knowledge of the administrative, operational and clinical healthcare functions including quality and process improvement, clinical quality data management, patient safety Patient safety and quality improvement OR substantial prior experience leading complex clinical/healthcare initiatives We believe that the best care for our patients starts with the best care for our employees.
