An Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Director is responsible for directing the strategic approach to managing the environmental impact of an organization on the surrounding area. Responsible for ensuring that the organization has a systematic approach to complying with environmental regulations, such as managing waste or air emissions. Will liaise with directors of other sections of the organization to ensure that strategic goals align with those of the environmental health and safety team.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of environmental health and safety principles, applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and University policies and procedures, including requirements related to occupational health, fire and life safety, hazardous materials, and emergency preparedness in a higher education environment
- Skilled in planning, organizing, coordinating, and administering environmental health and safety programs while managing multiple priorities and meeting established deadlines
- Experience conducting inspections, evaluating compliance, investigating incidents, identifying hazards, and recommending practical corrective actions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including providing guidance, training, and technical assistance to faculty, staff, students, contractors, and regulatory agencies while maintaining effective working relationships across the University community
- Proficient in analyzing information, preparing reports, maintaining regulatory documentation, and utilizing computer applications and database systems
- Demonstrated sound professional judgment, complex problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous process improvement. Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred (EMS) 14001 and / or (OHSAS) 45001 certified auditor
- Fire Life Safety Operations and code knowledge is a plus.
