Job Description

The Environmental Health & Safety Manager will office at our Orangeburg, SC facility and report directly to the Director of ESIH. The EHS Manager will direct, coordinate and oversee the proper deployment and oversight of Valtir s Environmental Health and Safety Management System, as part of the Site Leadership Team. What You ll
Do:
Implement and monitor all safety, industrial hygiene & environmental programs for company, local, state, and federal OSHA, and EPA regulatory compliance. Monitor, evaluate, and maintain the site AIC EHS system, and all environmental air, water, waste, and ground pollution permitting and prevention. Develops policies and programs for plant personnel safety including training programs, processes, and procedures for the prevention of hazards and diseases. Document, recommend and monitor corrective actions to ensure adherence to EHS programs. Brainstorm logistics for training for new hire orientation as well as other EHS training for site personnel. Maintains, analyzes and processes EHS audits in plant and shop areas. Provide training to enable effective operation of the established safety systems. Initiate, recommend, document, and monitor corrective actions for adherence to corporate and site EHS programs. Collaborate with employees to resolve safety issues and techniques. Build knowledge of the organization, processes, and customers Solve day to-day problems by analyzing practical solutions using standard procedures. Communicate and implement corporate ESIH goals and initiatives related to ESG, Risk Management and Industrial Hygiene Gather information and generate required and/or requested reports. Lead small projects and/or projects with minimal complexity. Use judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Serve as resource for other departments as needed. Maintain records of training, qualifications, certifications, etc., as they apply to the safety program. Ability to maintain accurate, current records and generate complete and timely reports. Primary responsibilities include the management, storage, emergency response and disposal of hazardous waste, waste minimization, and spill prevention. Investigate and prepare root cause analysis (RCA) of all EHS incidents. Help prepare site safety plans for remote projects. Assist with project preparation and support projects at customer locations. Receive a moderate level of guidance and direction. Demonstrate and provide training in methods of process capability and problem solving. Maintain neat and orderly facilities and work area. Assist in 5S and Lean projects around the plant. Manage the plant s recycling program. Maintain charts and graphs posted on the communications board. Assist in monthly inventory responsibilities. Collaborate with other staff members and division personnel to ensure a smooth achievement of plant and division goals. Participate in special committees and task forces. Need:
Five years minimum of EHS experience in an industrial environment required or a college degree related to field may be substituted. 7-10 years of Environmental and Safety experience preferred. CPR certified preferred OSHA 10 hours of training preferred. Environmental Health and Safety certification in general industry preferred. First Aid/Responder or EMT certification preferred. Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint required. Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. Friendly, customer- service attitude.
