Job Summary This role is a key member of the Plant Leadership Team and is responsible for building, leading, and sustaining a strong safety culture and world‑class SH&E systems across a 24/7, high‑complexity manufacturing operation. Job Description Serves as the contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Manage the accident investigation and corrective action process, and the workers compensation process to assure compliance. Responsible for maintaining contractor safety program. Responsible for maintaining all safety records and files. Manages forklift safety program and training. Lead, own, and continuously improve the site's Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Management Systems, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations. Serve as the site SHE Pillar Leader within Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), owning the pillar strategy, roadmap, governance, and maturity progression. Partner with Operations and Maintenance to integrate SHE requirements into equipment design, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement activities, using TPM methodologies to prevent injuries and equipment‑related safety risks. Drive the use of leading and lagging SHE performance metrics, analyze trends, and lead action plans with clear accountability. Lead effective investigations of serious incidents, near misses, and support process safety events using robust root‑cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions. Lead industrial hygiene, chemical exposure control, and support process safety programs to reduce risk to employees, equipment, and the environment. Drive site programs including 5S, TPM continuous improvement activities, safety observations, and safety committees. Coordinate SHE audits; partner with site leadership to close findings effectively and prevent recurrence. Provide technical SHE guidance and coaching to plant leaders, engineers, and frontline teams. Maintain environmental permits and compliance records, including air, water, and waste requirements. Develop, mentor, and coach the SHE Specialist, strengthening site capability and succession readiness. Actively contribute to plant strategy, capital project reviews, and operational decision‑making to ensure safety is embedded upstream rather than retrofitted.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Proven ability to lead Environmental and Safety initiatives in a manufacturing plant. Effective delegation skills. Strong communication skills - verbal, written and the ability to give effective presentations. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office). Strong background in safety management systems. Strong background in occupational health and safety, ergonomics and behavior based safety. Experience with environmental waste management and industrial hygiene. Facilitate training delivery consistent with plant programs and safety management system. Experience in workplace hazard assessments. Experience with emergency response, including first aid, CPR, spill and fire response. Demonstrated experience in developing and conducting employee safety training. Experience dealing with compliance to OSHA, EPA and other authorities Experience with industrial hygiene problems Experience with storm water pollution prevention and wastewater treatment compliance Familiar with manufacturing ergonomics Highly motivated; able to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment

Pay:

$120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
