Safety Director -
Steel Fabrication Manufacturing Facility Location:
Porter, Texas Salary:
Starting at $85,000 annually + Benefits Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Safety Director to lead and oversee safety operations at our steel fabrication manufacturing facility in Porter, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in steel fabrication and manufacturing environments, with hands-on experience developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs in a fabrication shop setting. This role is responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA and industry regulations, reducing workplace risks, and partnering with leadership and employees to maintain a safe and productive work environment. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs for a steel fabrication manufacturing facility. Provide leadership and guidance to management and employees regarding safety policies, procedures, and best practices. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and applicable industry safety standards. Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and job hazard analyses to identify and correct potential risks. Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; develop corrective and preventative action plans. Maintain safety records, reporting requirements, and documentation. Lead employee safety training programs, including new hire orientation, equipment safety, PPE requirements, and ongoing safety education. Work closely with fabrication teams, supervisors, and management to improve safety performance and operational efficiency. Review and improve safety procedures related to welding, cutting, material handling, cranes, rigging, machinery, and other steel fabrication processes. Assist with emergency response planning and workplace safety preparedness. Promote accountability and continuous improvement in safety practices throughout the organization. Required Qualifications Previous experience as a Safety Manager, Safety Director, or similar leadership role within a steel fabrication, structural steel, or metal manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, grinding, material handling, and shop operations. Must be able to travel to Livingston Tx. Upon request Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety standards. Experience conducting safety audits, investigations, and employee training. Ability to communicate effectively with both shop personnel and management teams. Strong leadership skills with the ability to build a positive safety culture. Ability to identify hazards and implement practical solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications OSHA 30-hour or
OSHA 500
certification - Is not mandatory but preferred Experience with safety management systems and continuous improvement programs. Experience working with fabrication equipment, cranes, rigging, and heavy industrial operations. Previous experience leading safety initiatives in a growing manufacturing organization.
Compensation & Benefits DOE Starting Salary:
