Job Description
Primary Purpose:
Responsible for the overall management, strategic planning, development, evaluation, and implementation of the district's safety and security program. Oversee mitigation, prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery phases of emergency management.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required Master's degree preferred Texas Principal Certification preferred Clear and valid Texas driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of school safety and security programs, emergency operations planning, and risk management practices Knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command System (ICS), and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) procedures Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and best practices related to school safety, emergency management, health services, and security operations Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate districtwide safety and security programs Ability to coordinate with law enforcement, emergency responders, government agencies, and community stakeholders Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and make recommendations based on findings Ability to manage budgets, personnel, and multiple projects simultaneously Proficiency in technology applications, spreadsheets, databases, and emergency communication systems Ability to work irregular and extended hours during emergencies and critical incidents
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in emergency management, risk management, safety and security, school administration, or a related field; or Five (5) years of successful experience as a professional educator and currently enrolled in or actively pursuing Texas principal certification.
