Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead and continuously improve the company's safety program across all sites and functions (production, loading, trucking, maintenance, and office as applicable). Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable state requirements; support
DOT/FMCSA
compliance for commercial drivers and fleet operations where applicable. Conduct scheduled and unscheduled site audits; issue corrective actions, assign owners, and track closure to completion. Lead incident reporting, investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action planning; communicate findings to leaders and frontline teams. Develop and deliver safety training (new hire onboarding, refresher training, task-specific training) and maintain accurate training records. Support safe operation of mobile equipment and yard/plant processes (e.g., front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, conveyors, grinders/screens as applicable) through standards and coaching. Coordinate workers' compensation claim support with HR and insurance partners, including return-to-work/light duty recommendations and documentation. Maintain and report safety KPIs (TRIR, DART, severity, near-miss reporting, audit scores, corrective action closure rates) and present monthly dashboards to leadership. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). 5+ years of progressive safety leadership experience in manufacturing, construction materials, aggregates, recycling, trucking/transportation, or similar heavy-industry environment. Demonstrated multi-site safety program leadership with measurable reductions in incidents and improved compliance performance. Professional certification (ASP, CSP, CHST, OHST) strongly preferred. Experience using PayCom (or similar HRIS) for training documentation, employee records, workflow approvals, and reporting preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Waste Management Experience Storm Water Experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards; ability to interpret requirements and translate them into practical site processes. Excellent investigation and root-cause analysis skills; ability to drive timely, sustainable corrective actions. Effective trainer and coach; able to influence leaders and engage frontline teams in a production environment. Strong communication, documentation, and reporting skills; proficient with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Teams).
Licenses / Certifications
Valid driver's license with ability to travel regularly to company sites. Safety certification (ASP/CSP/CHST/OHST) preferred. Supervisory Responsibilities This position supervises the following roles: Safety Coordinator Physical Requirements Frequent standing and walking in yard/plant environments; ability to climb stairs/ladders and navigate uneven terrain. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around moving equipment; able to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear). Occasional lifting/carrying (up to 50 lbs.) and ability to enter/exit equipment or elevated areas as needed. Work Environment Work performed primarily in outdoor yard/plant and maintenance/shop environments with exposure to dust, noise, and mobile equipment. Frequent site travel; occasional office/administrative work for reporting, documentation, and training records.
