Job Summary Dulles Geotechnical and Materials Testing Services, Inc. (DGMTS) is seeking an experienced Part-Time Safety Manager to develop, implement, and strengthen our company-wide safety program, with an initial emphasis on geotechnical drilling and field operations. Your expertise will help safeguard our employees, protect the environment, and uphold regulatory standards. Responsibilities Develop and implement a practical company-wide safety program and promote a strong safety culture. Conduct scheduled and unannounced safety inspections of drilling crews, field technicians, laboratories, and company facilities. Establish and enforce drilling safety procedures, including utility clearance, drill-rig setup, PPE, equipment inspections, exclusion zones, traffic hazards, overhead/underground utilities, and safe work practices. Review and improve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), daily pre-task safety meetings, equipment inspection checklists, and other safety documentation. Conduct company-wide safety audits and identify areas requiring corrective action. Provide toolbox talks and periodic safety training to employees and supervisors. Review accidents, utility strikes, near misses, and other safety incidents; perform root-cause evaluations and recommend corrective actions. Maintain and review OSHA-related records and assist management with OSHA compliance. Track corrective actions and provide a brief monthly safety report to management. Work directly with management, supervisors, drillers, and field personnel to establish a proactive safety culture. Requirements Minimum 5-10 years of construction, drilling, geotechnical, heavy civil, environmental, or related field safety experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements (29 CFR 1926) . Experience with drilling rigs, heavy equipment, excavation, underground utilities, or construction field operations strongly preferred. Ability to independently conduct field safety audits and communicate effectively with field personnel and management. Practical, hands-on approach to safety with the ability to coach employees while maintaining accountability. Strong report writing skills combined with the ability to perform root cause analysis effectively. Ability to interpret and apply workers' compensation law and safety regulations within a production environment. Excellent communication skills for delivering training sessions and collaborating across teams to promote safety culture. Preferred Certifications OSHA 30-Hour Construction CHST, ASP, CSP, or similar safety certification preferred but not required. First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Competent Person training in applicable construction activities is desirable. The ideal candidate will be an experienced safety professional who can work independently and help DGMTS build a safety culture where employees actively identify hazards, prevent incidents, and take responsibility for safe operations.

Pay:

$57,541.66 - $69,297.48 per year
