Job Summary The Hired Bar is leading the search for an EHS Manager on behalf of an innovative indoor agriculture company growing strawberries at scale in a highly automated, controlled-environment farm near Richmond, Virginia. We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead safety and environmental programs across two facilities: a large-scale indoor agricultural operation in Chester, VA and an R&D facility in Laramie, WY. Based primarily at the Virginia facility, the EHS Manager will be a hands-on safety leader responsible for developing and implementing EHS programs, ensuring OSHA and environmental compliance, conducting safety audits and training, leading incident investigations, and strengthening a proactive safety culture. This role is ideal for an EHS professional with experience in food/beverage manufacturing, agriculture, manufacturing, industrial operations, or a similar hands-on operating environment. Responsibilities Lead EHS programs and initiatives across the Virginia facility and Laramie, WY R&D site Conduct safety audits, inspections and facility walkthroughs to identify and mitigate workplace hazards Develop and deliver safety training, including new-hire orientation, PPE, chemical handling and other required programs Develop and maintain emergency response plans and site safety committees Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective-action implementation Partner with Operations and Engineering to evaluate equipment and processes for worker and food safety Maintain OSHA logs, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical inventories and other required EHS documentation Oversee safe storage, handling and disposal of chemicals, nutrient solutions and hazardous waste Manage Workers' Compensation matters and partner with insurance carriers, brokers and loss-control representatives Support environmental, health and safety permitting, regulatory reporting and recordkeeping Interface with local and state regulatory agencies Develop and implement EHS policies, SOPs and safety programs that are practical, effective and sustainable Serve as a trusted safety resource for employees, supervisors and leadership Qualification Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience 5+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience in agriculture, food/beverage manufacturing, manufacturing, industrial operations or a similar environment Experience developing and implementing EHS programs, policies, SOPs and training Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness and regulatory recordkeeping Experience conducting safety audits and incident investigations, including root-cause analysis Knowledge of Workers' Compensation requirements, reporting and claims management Ability to work effectively with Operations, Engineering, leadership and frontline employees Ability to work onsite in Chester, VA Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% to Laramie, WY Preferred Qualifications Experience with agricultural chemicals, nutrient solutions and/or hazardous waste management Experience in food manufacturing, agriculture, controlled-environment agriculture, R&D or laboratory environments HAZWOPER, Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or similar certification Familiarity with EPA, FDA, HACCP, SQF, GMP and GAPS requirements

Pay:

$100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
