The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for implementing the company's efforts in the following areas: Safety Management Systems, Risk Management and Loss Reductions, Safety Audits, and Safety Training.

Reports to:

Director of Corporate Safety and works closely with the Assistant Director of Corporate Safety, the Director of Field Operations, Superintendents, Project Executives and Project Managers to assure that the company's safety policies and procedures are implemented. Must be a US Citizen Required Education HS Diploma Preferred Education A degree in Safety and Health or related field is preferred. Required Experience Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in applying safety standards, regulations and procedures as it relates to manuals, audits, reports, checklists, etc. for a general contractor, subcontractor, or related engineering or environmental health and safety consulting firm. Previous experience working within the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, USACE

Safety & Health Standards, and other federal, state, local or special customer regulations that govern building construction and safety requirements. Required Qualifications Must have a current OSHA 30-hour and First Aid & CPR card. Highly preferred to have a current certification for one or more of the following - OSHA 510, OSHA 500. Highly preferred to have Competent Person Training (CPT) in fall protection, confined space, scaffolding, excavation and Silica. Current attendance certifications for one or more of the following - USACE

Quality Control Management (QCM), Maryland Sediment and Erosion Control, Asbestos Supervisor and/or Lead Supervisor. Preferred Qualifications Having one or more of the following safety and health related credentials is preferred - STSC, CHST, OHST, ASP, GSP, CSP or similar. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must have the knowledge and know the details related to construction and occupational health and safety. Security Clearance Possession of a current Secret or Top-Secret clearance is highly preferred or with the capability and good personal history required to obtain a Top-Secret clearance Responsibilities/Duties Safety Management Systems Serve as Safety Manager/SSHO Participate as a member of the Grunley Safety and Accident Prevention Committee Provide field observations and suggestions regarding the Corporate Safety Plan and related safety regulations Assist project superintendents and project managers in the development of Job Specific Safety Plans Develop Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA's) based on the intended work Develop and/or review and provide comments to activity specific work plans and AHA's Support implementation of the safety incentive and safety awards programs Risk Management and Loss Reduction Provide field observations and suggestions regarding opportunities to prevent injuries and accidents, improve safety performance, and lower insurance costs Assist with claims handling and their resolution as applicable Assist with injuries and perform accident investigations, obtain witness statements, and develop related reports Assist in returning and monitoring the progress of injured employees as they perform modified duty on our projects Implement record keeping requirements (e.g., Accident investigation reports, OSHA 300, 300A and 301 logs, Workers' Compensation reports, etc.) Review and confirm current insurance certificates for Subcontractors intended to and/or currently working on our projects to assure compliance Safety Audits Conduct assigned safety audits in partnership with the project teams and subcontractor safety representatives Provide assistance, immediate input, advice and direction to resolve and mitigate potential hazardous conditions and assure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements (e.g., signs, permits, postings, etc.) Develop and distribute daily Procore safety reports of field audit observations after completion of the project safety audit and provide the appropriate corrective action information Assist the project supervisory team to review upcoming work areas to preplan and determine if unidentified safety concerns need to be addressed before work begins Follow-up with subcontractor safety representatives to assure that all resolution actions have been taken, issues have been addressed and resolved, and promptly closed out on the Procore audit program Assist in OSHA project inspections Assure that project safety files & logs are maintained and kept up to date Supervise the implementation of Safety Data Sheet's (SDS's) and the related communication program Assure that all safety signs and safety equipment are adequately supplied to assigned project sites Provide assistance, support and technical advice to project supervisory team and our subcontractors on all safety matters Assist with the annual respiratory protection program documentation and fit testing duties as needed Safety Training Provide safety-training when necessary Assist in scheduling and logistics for specific training programs Perform jobsite employee training as needed Attend and assist during weekly Grunley and Subcontractor Foreman meetings, scheduled safety meetings, and preparatory meetings as needed and/or as requested Attend and participate in training classes to maintain required updates, certifications and credentials Assist with the system in place to maintain accurate records of employee safety-training and certifications Other Attend any assigned Grunley in-house and external training programs Participate as needed as an instructor in Grunley continuing education programs Provide any other similar and/or related assistance with assigned tasks as needed to perform the Safety Manager/SSHO duties Our benefits package is designed to support employee well-being and financial security, including employer-sponsored health and life insurance, paid time off for sick leave, maternity/paternity leave, jury duty, and vacation, and retirement options like 401(k) plans.
