Full Job Description Position Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will plan, direct and monitor company compliance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Conduct fire, safety and environmental audits. Ensure all safety equipment is accessible and is in proper working condition. Responsible for proper hazardous waste control and disposal activities. Develop and oversee implementation of all phases of safety and environmental policies and procedures for the Company. Partner with each facility to train personnel in all safety, emergency and environmental safety procedures. Investigate work-related accidents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare, implement and coordinate policies on matters involving Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Such matters include, but are not limited to, electrical guidelines, air emissions and water effluents, chemicals and hazardous material handling and disposal, pollution, acceptable exposure levels and other environmental conditions.

• Work with all facilities to ensure completion and submittal of all required environmental reports.
• Maintain training programs on safety procedures, the use of safety equipment, OSHA and other applicable government safety regulations, health precautions and related safety programs. Present and/or schedule external resources to provide training to applicable facility employees on a timely basis. Document all training and monitor progress and effectiveness.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies, which include DNR, EPA, OSHA, Wastewater Treatment, Fire and Police or other agencies to uphold our reputation of being a morally conscious company.
• Conduct periodic (i.e., weekly, monthly, etc.) inspections and prepare reports of plant machinery (i.e., presses), sprinkler systems, air emissions, storm water and potable water discharge and hazardous waste.
• Ensure all facilities are compliant with safety and health regulations.
• Analyze incident information to identify trends pertaining to work-related accidents or complaints. Determine appropriate company strategies for correction and minimization of recurrence.
• Assist Company in capital machinery requisitions to ensure that equipment meets current OSHA, EPA, DNR or other environmental and safety agency standards. Conduct and record proper environmental and safety tests upon installation.
• Develop company policies for emergency response procedures regarding fire, weather and building evacuation during initial employment orientation and annually thereafter.
• Oversee facility safety personnel to assure compliance with Hazardous Communication labeling requirements, identify hazards on all Safety Data Sheets and ensure that the latest SDS is maintained.
• Perform other related duties as requested.
• Approximately 25% travel is required - at least quarterly to field locations, and frequently to nearby facilities.

Educational Requirements /

Experience:

• College degree in safety and environmental studies or related engineering field of study preferred, or equivalent years of related work experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in plant safety, environmental or related manufacturing duties.
• Must be familiar with evaluation, analysis and developing programs and control techniques.
• Must possess proficient computer skills.
• Self-starter, action-oriented, hands-on manager.
• Excellent communication skills.
