Safety and Security Job Statement Reports directly to the Safety and Security Director. Facilitates/performs the dielectric testing and performance of rubber goods, fiberglass tools, and jumpers. Routine exposure to high and low voltages in performing job tasks. Essential Duties Clean, visually inspect, and perform electrical tests on high voltage utility line hoses, blankets, insulated jumpers, gloves, and similar items in accordance with ASTM standards. Inspect, clean, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and issue confined space air quality equipment and other safety equipment in accordance with OSHA standards. Label, track, issue, and maintain safety equipment inventory. Order materials and equipment as needed to maintain adequate supplies: deliver and collect safety and protective equipment from work sites. Prepares written reports as required. Maintain annual certifications for testing equipment and stay abreast of the latest OSHA and HU guidelines regarding high voltage electrical testing practices. Assist in scheduling the testing of safety equipment. Maintain testing equipment and test lab facilities per OSHA and ASTM standards. Perform work in a safe manner to protect employees, the public, and property. Performs additional safety duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Education:
High School education or completion of a GED is required. The ability pass the VON Corporation Rubber Good Tester Accreditation and HANCO International Training program within (6) six months of hire. The ability to obtain the NAIL Lab Certification and Accreditation within (12) twelve months of hire. ,Employment subject for review if deadline(s) not met.
Experience:
Two years of experience in field operations is preferred. Must have knowledge skills in safety/Personal Protective Equipment. Must be familiar in Microsoft Office (Basic Excel and Outlook).
Additional Requirements Physical Demands:
This job demands moderate physical effort. Regularly moves or lifts medium weight objects (15 to 40 pounds). Walking or standing for significant periods of time. May require recurring bending, crouching, stretching, or reaching.
Other:
Good interpersonal, verbal and writing skills. Subject to call-out for emergencies. Familiarity with Huntsville Utilities' safety procedures, and basic safety, health and environmental rules. Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license with a good driving record. This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
