Position Summary The role of the Physical Environment Safety Technician reports to the Physical Environment Manager ("PEM"). This position is responsible for assessing and addressing safety hazards in a workplace, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and implementing measures to prevent incidents and injuries. This position is responsible for ensuring various safety physical environment and equipment checks and tests are performed throughout the year. This position is responsible for evaluating and identifying repairs or replacements needed to ensure the physical environment remains safe and secure for people and assets. Essential Position Responsibilities Identify potential environmental, health, and safety hazards within the workplace, and conduct risk assessments to evaluate and mitigate risks. Plan and perform regular facilities, equipment, and procedure inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventative measures, as needed. Develop and deliver safety training programs, in partnership with PEM, to employees, and communicate safety information effectively. Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, investigations, and other safety-related activities. Ensure compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards. Set up, calibrate and maintain safety equipment, such as environmental monitors, to ensure accurate data collection. Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures. Assist in developing and implementing PSM programs to prevent catastrophic incidents in hazardous processes. Monitor air, water, and other environmental parameters to ensure compliance with regulations and prevent contamination. Facilitate and perform various safety physical environment and equipment checks and tests throughout the year, including preventative maintenance, fire alarm, fire extinguisher, water, elevators. Assist with and participate in disaster preparedness drills.

Qualifications Education:

High School Diploma or GED, required.

Licensure and Certifications:

Active driver's license and auto insurance. OSHA 10-

Hour Training Certification and FEMA Independent Study Courses:

IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800

required within 12 months. OSHA 30-Hour training certificate, HAZWOPER 40-hour training certificate, HERT Instructor, and ICS 300/400, preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years within maintenance related field and healthcare experience required. Experience with process improvement, regulatory/accreditation programs, data management, and analysis, including graphic development and presentations, preferred. Professional Skills Strong understanding of safety regulations and standards. Ability to identify, assess, and control hazards. Proficiency in conducting inspections and audits. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Technical skills related to environmental monitoring and safety equipment. Proficient in using software and computer systems for record-keeping and data analysis. Ability to interpret data and report findings effectively. Knowledge of relevant safety and environmental standards and regulations. Experience in investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.

Work Environment :

This position will spend 70% of time walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. while reviewing building and safety assessments and 30% of the time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. This position may be exposed to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
