Responsibilities Summary:

The Sanitation Officer is responsible for the security, inventory, and maintenance of facility cleaning equipment and agents. This position is also responsible for the proper usage and dispensation of cleaning agents within the facility. In addition, the Sanitation Officer oversees and monitors activities of detainees while enforcing and adhering to the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the company and contracting agency.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Sanitation Officer ensures that cleaning agents and related items are stored in a secure but readily accessible area. Maintains written records of distributions of cleaning agents. Complies with sanitation policies and procedures of the company, facility, and contracting agency. The Sanitation Officer is responsible for cleaning and maintaining all sanitation equipment. Performs monthly inventory which includes a safety inspection of cleaning agents. Reports all missing and broken sanitation equipment immediately. Coordinates tool control with each area department. Maintains a master inventory of all tools utilized for sanitation purposes. The Sanitation Officer coordinates all replacements, additions, and deletions of sanitation equipment. Ensures proper disposal of all obsolete, broken or worn tools and records the disposal. Ensures all cleaning agents have proper identification sheets. The Sanitation Officer provides training and instruction in proper usage of cleaning agents and equipment, and associated safety precautions to staff. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent certification required. College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred. Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity preferred. Possession of applicable state requisites for employment. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to handle physical and mental stress associated with working extended hours. Must be able to regularly report to work without being late. Work experience in a correctional setting preferred. May be required to possess valid state driver's license. Must be mature, flexible, able to command the respect and confidence of inmates or detainees and staff, possess a high tolerance to mental stress. GEO Secured Services
