What to Expect The EHS Chemical Risk and Design and Engineering team is at the forefront of partnering company-wide to innovate the future of Tesla. This position will work with many industry leaders in many areas, from designing the next Gigafactory to mitigating risk with cutting-edge battery chemistries. The ideal candidate will consist of providing industrial hygiene and chemical risk expertise to influence design processes. They will assist with research laboratories, manage the implementation of Tesla's Chemical Hygiene Plan, and oversee/conduct sampling and exposure assessments. Standards and program management for R D will include respiratory protection, hearing conservation, radiation safety, laser safety and others. What You'll Do

Directly responsible for the review of new and existing R D designs in multi-use spaces, and directly responsible for providing IH guidance and the anticipation, recognition, and control of occupational hazards

Directly responsible for managing the R D IH program. Demonstrated ability to review equipment and process designs and provide valuable input to control and mitigate occupational hazards

Conducting health risk assessments and providing controls recommendations as needed

Implementation of the many facets of Tesla's Chemical Hygiene Plan at R D spaces across Tesla

Review of chemicals and assessment of their use through SDS, process evaluation

Reviewing chemicals used/proposed for Tesla's laboratories and provide recommendations for safe usage

Manage existing programs such as respiratory protection, hearing conservation, radiation safety, laser safety, and others, at all R D sites What You'll Bring

Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Toxicology, Engineering, Chemistry, or Safety or equivalent experience

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, experience with IH databases

Experience with operation of medical surveillance and related programs including respirator medical clearance, audiometry, and substance-specific examinations

2+ years of experience as an industrial hygienist or EHS professional

CIH preferred, but not necessary. General foundational knowledge of applicable laws and standards (OSHA, Cal-OSHA, German MAK standards, ACGIH standards, NIOSH standards, etc.) required

Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-faceted projects in a fast-paced environment, and ability to communicate effectively cross-functionally across engineering, research scientists, legal counsel and business leaders

Expected Compensation

$80,000 - $150,000/annual salary + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
