Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver to join our transportation team. In this dynamic role, you will operate various types of vehicles, including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vans, to safely transport passengers of all ages. Your primary goal is to ensure the safe, timely, and courteous movement of passengers while adhering to all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the community by providing reliable and friendly transportation services. Duties Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and vans in accordance with state and local laws. Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including wheelchair assistance and behavior management as needed. Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, emergency response procedures for transportation, and school or transit policies. Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any maintenance issues promptly. Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and passengers using radios or other communication devices. Respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies with appropriate stop procedures and defensive driving techniques. Provide excellent customer service by ensuring passenger safety, comfort, and a positive experience during each trip. Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport. Experience working with children or senior care is highly desirable. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment. Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Familiarity with student discipline policies, behavior management techniques, and school policies related to student transportation. CPR and First Aid certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified. Experience in bus driving, paratransit operations, or school bus driving is advantageous. Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes with safe driving practices and emergency stop procedures. Good writing skills for completing logs, reports, and incident documentation. Pay:
