We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Equipment Control & Safety Specialist to oversee the tracking, optimization, and regulatory safety compliance of our intermodal equipment assets. In this role, you will be the vital link between our drayage operations and fleet compliance. You will manage the lifecycle, container/chassis tracking, per-diem mitigation, and a good knowledge of
DOT/FMCSA
safety compliance of all equipment entering and exiting local ports and rail yards. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in port drayage logistics, and expert understanding of chassis and container maintenance standards, and a passion for enforcing a robust workplace safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Control & Asset Tracking Monitor Container & Chassis Lifecycles:
Track the movement of import/export containers and chassis from origin ports through final warehouse delivery using web-based Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
Per-Diem & Demurrage Mitigation:
Audit and reconcile equipment gate activity to minimize empty return delays, chassis split fees, and port storage penalties.
Interchange Management:
Audit Equipment Interchange Receipts (EIR) for accuracy regarding damage, fuel levels, and accessories. Fleet Safety & Regulatory Compliance
DOT & FMCSA
Compliance:
Maintain comprehensive Driver Qualification (DQ) files and ensure all equipment meets Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) inspection standards.
Equipment Inspections:
Conduct routine yard safety audits and pre-operation equipment inspections to check for mechanical issues, air brake functionality, and structural integrity.
DVIR Management:
Review Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) daily and coordinate immediate corrective actions or repairs with mechanics or third-party chassis pools.
Incident Management & Risk Control Accident Investigations:
Lead root-cause investigations for road accidents, yard incidents, and equipment damage, documenting all findings for legal and insurance purposes.
Safety Training:
Conduct and Promote SAFETY with drivers, focused on safe load transportation, port navigation, and defensive driving techniques.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum 2-4 years of direct experience in intermodal drayage operations, transportation safety management, or equipment control.
Credentials:
High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Occupational Health & Safety preferred.
Port Knowledge:
Familiarity with local port operations (e.g., LA/LB) and terminal gate systems. TWIC card driver implementation.
Regulatory Expertise:
Understanding of FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations, specifically regarding intermodal equipment.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., Profit Tools, NSC) and asset tracking platforms. Bilingual is a plus.
