CRV Recycling Solutions Recycling Specialist Job Description:
Our team consists of passionate recycling consultants that have helped communities across the state with their recycling needs. The job described below is a great opportunity to join a growing team that is at the forefront of behavior change in the meaningful field of environmental sustainability. A Recycling Specialist at CRV Recycling Solutions is primarily responsible for managing a recycling center's daily operations, including customer service, material sorting, and cash handling. This role often involves working independently at a retail-based site to facilitate the redemption of California Redemption Value (CRV) containers.
Key Responsibilities Customer Interaction:
Assist customers with beverage container returns and provide professional service.
Material Processing:
Correctly identify, sort, and weigh aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles and record weight transactions on a mobile tablet for record keeping.
Financial Transactions:
Pay out cash to customers for recycled materials while ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Site Management:
Open and close the recycling facility, maintain a clean and safe work area, and report site volume information to the central office.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform daily cleaning and basic maintenance of scales and crushing machines.
Job Requirements Physical Stamina:
Must be able to stand for long periods and lift materials up to 50 pounds.
Environmental Tolerance:
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) and handle materials with strong odors.
Skills:
Strong basic math for weighing and cash handling, plus effective communication for customer complaints or inquiries.
Screening:
Candidates typically must pass a criminal background check and a drug screen.
Typical shifts:
We run a 7 day/week operation so a typical shift can cover one day a week up to five days a week. Typical hours are 9am to 5pm.
Pay range:
• $17-$18/hour depending on experience for the Recycling Specialist position
Working Conditions & Environment Independence:
Specialists often run their own sites with minimal direct supervision once trained.
Pace:
The environment is fast-paced, involving high customer traffic and constant manual labor.
Safety:
Requires adherence to safety standards, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves and safety shoes.
Pay:
$17.00 - $18.00 per hour
