This is a hands-on position that contributes directly to safety performance, training, inspections, and administrative support. Essential Responsibilities Assist the Safety Manager with implementation and enforcement of safety programs and policies Support employee safety training and safety meetings Assist with incident investigations, including general liability claims Help ensure compliance with DOT regulations, including driver qualification files and recordkeeping Maintain accurate safety records, logs, and documentation Perform data entry and track safety-related information Provide support to operations teams to reinforce safe work practices Promote a positive safety culture across all departments

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of:

Safety-related principles and practices, regulations and laws. Modern office practices and procedures including the use of standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Search Engines and Google Maps.

Ability to:

Implement successful training programs that positively impact the safety of our employees and the community that we serve. Effectively train employees on important safety-related matters. Actively listen to, empathize with and address employee safety concerns. Proactively establish trust and credibility with employees by maintaining accountability. Contribute to the team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support and collaboration amongst coworkers. Take initiative, self-manage time and productivity through multitasking. Effectively and concisely communicate both orally and in writing. Provide guidance and expert advice on safety-related information. Education, Training & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required 1-3 years of experience in safety, operations, or related field preferred (entry-level candidates with strong interest in safety are encouraged to apply) Basic knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations is a plus Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Supplemental Information Universal Waste Systems celebrates diversity and is an equal opportunity employer.
