Overview Join our dynamic transportation team as a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver, where your skills will drive safety, service, and efficiency. In this vital role, you'll operate various vehicles—including buses, vans, and specialized transit vehicles—delivering passengers safely and punctually across designated routes. Your expertise in traffic laws, defensive driving, and passenger safety will ensure a smooth journey for all riders. Duties Safely operate commercial vehicles such as transit buses, school buses, or vans in accordance with state and local driving laws Transport passengers—including children, seniors, or individuals with disabilities—while ensuring their safety and comfort at all times Assist passengers with wheelchair boarding and disembarking, providing wheelchair assistance and behavior management when necessary Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and emergency stop procedures to ensure passenger safety Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, and vehicle inspections; complete incident reports when required Enforce school policies or transit protocols related to student discipline or passenger conduct during trips Respond quickly to traffic changes and adjust routes accordingly to maintain schedule adherence and safety standards Skills Proven experience in bus driving, school bus operation, or transit vehicle management with a strong understanding of vehicle codes and traffic laws Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities such as bilingual proficiency are a plus for serving diverse communities Knowledge of transportation safety regulations, including passenger safety protocols and heavy lifting techniques when assisting passengers or loading equipment Ability to respond promptly during emergencies using CPR, first aid, and emergency response procedures for transportation incidents Strong understanding of student discipline policies (if applicable), behavior management strategies, and school policy knowledge Defensive driving skills complemented by quick responses to traffic changes; familiarity with vehicle maintenance checks is advantageous Exceptional customer service orientation with the ability to handle behavioral challenges professionally and courteously Join us in delivering safe, reliable transportation services that make a difference every day!
