Job Description
Field-Based Safety Trainer- Distribution Electrical & Utility Systems Location:
Field-Based. Show-up Location Homosassa, Florida with frequent travel to Panhandle and Central Florida areas.Who Are We:
We are a leading electrical utility contractor specializing in turnkey underground and overhead distribution systems installation and maintenance. Our mission is to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable power solutions across the region, and to do that, we rely on a safety culture built from the ground up and reinforced every day. We are seeking a Field-Based Safety Trainer with extensive experience in both overhead and underground electric utility work to support and elevate our safety programs. Enhanced knowledge of primary cable work is preferred. This is a key role in ensuring our crews are properly trained, equipped, and aligned with current regulations and best practices. Position Overview The Safety Trainer is responsible for the delivery, and enforcement of safety processes and procedures as well as training programs with a focus on overhead electrical distribution systems. This includes conducting technical training, field assessments, job site audits, and compliance evaluations in line with F&H Contractors, OSHA, NESC, and utility partner standards. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge in energized distribution environments, including live-line procedures, PPE, I&I, secondary systems, OH to UG Transition work, as well as experience working with streetlighting infrastructure. Candidate should have experience in overhead and underground distribution linework.Key Responsibilities Understand and Deliver Training:
Facilitate new hire orientation, refresher courses, and advanced technical safety training for line crews covering topics such as fall protection, grounding, pole-top/bucket rescue, Insulate and Isolate, and energized equipment handling, etc.Conduct Field Safety Audits:
Perform routine and spot inspections at job sites to ensure crews are following safe work practices and procedures, especially during energized overhead and underground operations. Document safety audits, findings, coaching moments, and training moments.Evaluate Field Competency:
Observe and assess field personnel during live work, verifying proper technique, PPE usage, and adherence to safety protocols.Collaborate with the Area Safety Manager and Director of Safety & Training to identify risk areas and implement continuous improvement measures.
