Environmental Health Specialist I:
Completion of a bachelor's degree at an accredited four-year college or university which included the completion of 40 quarter hours (or 27 semester hours) in laboratory sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.)Environmental Health Specialist II:
With above qualifications must have one year of full-time professional level environmental health experience equivalent to anEnvironmental Health Specialist I Environmental Health Specialist III:
With above qualifications must have one year of experience equivalent to an EHS II In addition to the above qualifications, the following are preferred: Completion of a major in environmental health science. Completion of a Masters degree. Current registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) or Registered Sanitarian (RS) by the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), or the recognized credentialing board of a sate or country having equivalent standards as NEHA. Currently qualified as a Standardized Retail Food Inspection Officer. MAPEP Under the pre-employment fitness-for-duty this position is considered a Category 2:Active:
Involves moderate to heavy physical activity, potentially dangerous equipment operation, and/or exposure to unusual working conditions like weather extremes or chemicals. Examples include warehouse clerks, trades technicians, and mechanics. Employment Information Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary. DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
