Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health and Safety Specialist to join our organization's safety team. This role is essential in promoting a safe, compliant, and health-conscious work environment across manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and oversee health and safety programs that align with regulatory standards and industry best practices. They will serve as a key resource for ensuring workplace safety, environmental management, and regulatory compliance, fostering a culture of proactive risk management and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies in accordance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and other relevant regulatory standards. Conduct regular safety audits, hazard assessments, and inspections to identify potential risks within manufacturing environments. Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and prepare detailed reports to prevent recurrence. Provide training sessions on workplace safety regulations, hazardous materials handling, first aid procedures, CPR certification, and environmental management systems. Ensure compliance with environmental health regulations related to hazardous materials, waste management, and emissions controls. Maintain accurate documentation of safety procedures, incident reports, training records, and compliance audits. Collaborate with management to develop emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness. Stay current with updates in safety regulations, environmental laws, and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance. Serve as a point of contact for workers' compensation law inquiries and coordinate related claims processes. Promote a culture of safety awareness among employees through ongoing communication and engagement initiatives. Requirements Proven experience in occupational health and safety within manufacturing or industrial settings. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and environmental compliance requirements. Certification in First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), OSHA training programs, or related safety credentials preferred. Familiarity with environmental management systems such as
ISO 14001
is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments, root cause analysis, and report writing with clarity and precision. Knowledge of workers' compensation law processes and legal compliance standards in production environments. Excellent communication skills for training delivery, report preparation, and cross-department collaboration. Ability to interpret regulatory/legal compliance standards in a practical context for daily operations. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail necessary for maintaining accurate records.
