Job Title:
EHS Technician Job Description The EHS Technician supports a safe and compliant industrial manufacturing environment by auditing critical equipment and processes, validating corrective actions, and reinforcing environmental, health, and safety standards across the facility. This role actively partners with operations teams to perform risk assessments, lead safety audits, and help drive a strong safety culture through training, communication, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Audit critical equipment and jobs for EHS compliance, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), combustible dust controls, cranes and hoists, machine guards and safety devices, confined spaces, electrical safety, and forklift operations. Conduct regular 5S audits to ensure workplace organization, cleanliness, and safety standards remain in place and effective. Review the routines and practices of Team Leaders and Supervisors who have EHS responsibilities to verify that they follow established procedures and meet compliance expectations. Validate inspection findings that were closed the previous day to ensure corrective actions are completed, documented, and effective. Participate in and validate EHS Toolbox Talks, Safety Alerts, and safety communication meetings to ensure key messages are accurate, relevant, and clearly delivered. Participate in the immediate investigation of accidents and incidents, supporting root cause analysis and the development of corrective and preventive actions. Review and validate proper authorization for high-risk activities and non-routine jobs, such as work at heights, confined space entry, electrical work, and hot work, ensuring required permits and controls are in place. Perform risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards, evaluate risk levels, and recommend practical controls to reduce or eliminate risks. Support compliance auditing activities and assist in correcting identified deficiencies to maintain adherence to OSHA standards and internal EHS requirements. Essential Skills Experience with OSHA standards and practical application of OSHA requirements in an industrial environment. Hands-on experience conducting risk assessments and safety audits in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Knowledge of mechanical and manufacturing processes and how they relate to environmental, health, and safety risks. Experience with EHS compliance activities, including auditing critical equipment and high-risk tasks. Familiarity with ISO standards and EHS-related ISO audit practices. Ability to participate in root cause analysis to identify underlying causes of incidents and nonconformities. Understanding of electrical safety principles and safe work practices. Experience supporting ergonomics assessments and improvements in industrial environments. Strong troubleshooting skills to identify safety issues and propose effective corrective actions. Ability to support compliance auditing and assist with correcting deficiencies identified during inspections. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA 10 Certification is preferred and considered an asset. ISO audit experience, particularly related to EHS or quality management systems. Experience with EHS Toolbox Talks, Safety Alerts, and safety communication activities. Exposure to auditing or controlling high-risk activities such as work at heights, confined space entry, electrical work, and hot work.
