An Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Specialist completes workplace and equipment inspections and implements workplace safety rules and programs. Provides occupational safety training for employees. Investigates and reports on potential hazards or accidents that occur at the workplace.
This vacancy is for a GS-0018-11, Safety and Occupational Health Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, Director of Operational Logistics, Base, Facilities Engineering Department, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS- 11 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Conducting compliance reviews or inspections that span the full range of areas including but not limited to industrial, manufacturing, transportation, maritime organizations. Investigating potential and existing hazardous situations in the workplace. Identifying and evaluating unsafe operations and conditions in the workplace. Conducting accident investigations in the workplace. Preparing guides or instructions on safety and occupational health in the workplace. Educating employees in safe operating practices or techniques in the workplace.
