Safety Engineer Intern - Summer 2027 Main Office (Bethesda, MD) Language Department 110 Location Main Office (Bethesda, MD) Position Type Full Time Salary $21.00 - $25.00 an hour Requisition 2026-72 Open Date 09/16/2026 Description The Occupational Health & Safety Engineer Intern will have the opportunity to observe and participate in all aspects of OH&S management that are typically encountered in the construction workplace. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide support to safety managers in the areas of hazard identification and controls, creating and delivering site safety orientations, coaching and mentoring, reviewing safety-related documentation and providing feedback, performing field inspections, and creating reports, as needed Develop an overall understanding of the various managerial processes, administrative requirements, and safety-related administration at both the construction site and the corporate headquarters. Assist safety manager with document control, submittals, meeting minutes inspection reports, observations, and incident investigations using the company project management software. Active involvement in day-to-day communication with Project Teams, Subcontractors, Architects, Engineers, Inspectors, and Owners. Research and gather statistics and related data for periodic and special one-time reports. Gain an understanding of advanced technology and software to complete projects as assigned. Knowledge, Experience, and Special Skills Required Be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a degree in Construction Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field. Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent documentation and organizational skills Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness Trustworthy, self-motivated, passionate and dedicated to high-quality work Must always maintain a professional appearance consistent with company standards Demonstrate reliability and abide by the company attendance policy Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, Bluebeam Wage Transparency In accordance with the Maryland Wage Transparency Law, the hourly range for this position is: $21.00 - $25.00 Job Demands Individuals should be able to reach above and below, stoop, stand, bend and, sit, walk, climb ladders and stairs. Individuals should also be able to lift, carry and/or move items up to 25lbs. May be exposed to heavy machinery/equipment, hazardous chemicals and extreme weather conditions. Minimum of 40 hours per week required. Work hours will vary depending on project requirements and may involve weekends and night work.
