Onsite (Multiple Local Project Sites)

Full-Time / Long Term Contract Position Summary The Safety Specialist is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment across various Project Management Office (PMO) construction and field locations. This role ensures strict compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while working directly on site with employees, contractors, and management to identify, assess, and minimize workplace hazards. Key Responsibilities Site Oversight & Hazard Identification Assist in the active oversight of safety operations and issues across various PMO construction and job sites. Conduct regular workplace inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and verify protocol adherence. Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and comprehensive risk assessments for ongoing field activities. Incident Investigation & Reporting Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-miss events to determine root causes. Recommend, track, and monitor effective corrective and preventive actions for identified safety concerns. Monitor and document safety performance metrics, maintaining thorough records for regulatory compliance and management reporting. Compliance & Program Management Ensure full compliance with OSHA standards and applicable regulatory requirements across all assigned facilities. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive organizational safety policies, procedures, and EHS initiatives. Assist in emergency preparedness planning, site drills, and response activities. Training & Culture Leadership Coordinate and deliver engaging safety training for employees, third-party contractors, and site visitors. Partner directly with job site supervisors and management to foster a strong, proactive safety culture. Facilitate safety committee meetings and lead employee engagement initiatives focused on continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Requirements Required Experience & Education:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience). 2+ years of experience in workplace safety, EHS, manufacturing, construction, or heavy industrial environments. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management principles, and job site safety practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Credentials & Skills:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or OSHA 30-Hour Certification. Proven experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis on active construction or utility sites. Experience working within formal safety management systems and handling regulatory compliance reporting. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to walk and inspect active production floors, construction sites, and industrial facilities for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Comfort and ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on site. Requires regular daily movement and travel between local job sites and facility locations.
