Job Description

The Twin Cities Roofing Contractors Association is seeking a Roofing Safety Specialist. The Roofing Safety Specialist ensures compliance with OSHA and company regulations, mitigating risks on commercial roofing jobsites through regular inspections, hazard identification, and safety training. They foster a culture of safety by conducting field audits, leading toolbox talks, investigating incidents, and maintaining detailed safety documentation. The Roofing Safety Specialist will report to the Safety Director of the Twin Cities Roofing Contractors Association.

Key Responsibilities Jobsite Inspections & Audits:

Regularly inspects roofs, equipment, and scaffolding, often climbing ladders, to ensure compliance with

OSHA 1926

standards.

Training & Education:

Leads ongoing safety training sessions for crew members, to include equipment training, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.

Incident Investigation:

Investigates near-misses and accidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Documentation & Record Keeping:

Maintains detailed records of training, certifications, inspections, and safety violations.

Risk Mitigation:

Proactively works with field management to identify potential hazards and create site-specific safety plans.

Equipment Management:

Ensures proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety systems.

Requirements and Qualifications Experience:

General knowledge and experience with commercial roofing work and the safety requirements for this type of work.

Knowledge:

Strong understanding of OSHA regulations related to fall protection and commercial construction, and the ability to read, write, and understand English. Bilingual abilities including the ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Skills:

Strong communication skills to teach, educate, and mentor workers on safety, including the ability to speak in front of large groups.

Physical Abilities:

Ability to work at heights, including rooftops of commercial buildings. Ability to work outdoors in various weather-related conditions including hot, cold, rain, sunlight and snow. Ability to work around asphalt and adhesive fumes as well as dust. Ability to climb ladders, steps and scaffold towers 40+ feet. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Ability to stand for prolonged periods. Ability to walk on uneven surfaces.

Technology:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office to maintain logs and reports. Typical Qualifications & Background High school diploma or equivalent. Bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish) is a plus, enabling the employee to effectively communicate with all field employees. Compensation 7 paid holidays 3 weeks of paid vacation Company paid cell phone Employer paid retirement contributions (12% of salary) Employer paid health, dental, and vision benefits for your family Vehicle allowance (currently $1200 per month) This will be a salaried position with salary range of 70K- 95K per year.
