Job Description

Are you passionate about helping people work safely? Do you enjoy being in the field, solving problems, providing training, and building relationships across an organization? Carthage Water & Electric Plant is seeking a dependable and motivated Safety Specialist to support safety efforts throughout our electric, water, wastewater, power production, fiber, and administrative operations. This position will work closely with employees, supervisors, and Human Resources to identify workplace hazards, coordinate safety training, investigate incidents, maintain required documentation, and strengthen CWEP's overall safety culture. What You'll Do Conduct workplace and job-site safety inspections. Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate and provide employee safety training. Assist with new-employee safety orientation. Participate in incident and near-miss investigations. Maintain OSHA logs, training records, inspection reports, and other safety documentation. Assist with job hazard analyses and emergency-response planning. Support safety meetings and Safety Committee activities. Help employees and supervisors find practical solutions to safety concerns. Monitor safety trends and help develop programs that prevent injuries and accidents. What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent. Three or more years of relevant safety, utility, construction, industrial, or risk-management experience. Knowledge of workplace safety practices and OSHA requirements. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to conduct inspections and present safety training. Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments. Experience in municipal utilities, electric operations, water or wastewater, power production, telecommunications, construction, or industrial operations is preferred. A related degree or professional safety certification is also preferred. Compensation The hourly wage range for this position is $28.12-$33.70 , depending on qualifications and experience.
