Full Job Description Safety & Compliance Specialist Salary:
$48,000-$52,000 per year

Full-Time Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Specialist to support our transportation operations and help maintain a strong culture of safety, accountability, and DOT compliance. The ideal candidate will hold a valid Class A CDL and have previous experience in transportation safety and/or DOT compliance . This position will work closely with drivers and management to monitor compliance, review safety performance, address violations, maintain required documentation, and help ensure our operation meets company and regulatory standards. Experience working with Samsara is a major plus. Key Responsibilities Monitor and support compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations and company safety policies. Review driver safety performance, violations, incidents, and compliance concerns. Utilize telematics and safety technology to monitor driver performance and identify coaching opportunities. Assist with driver coaching and corrective action related to speeding, harsh driving, seat belt usage, distracted driving, Hours of Service, and other safety concerns. Review ELD/HOS records , driver logs, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance. Assist with maintaining Driver Qualification Files (DQFs) and other required safety and compliance records. Monitor CDL status, medical certifications, MVRs, and other driver qualification requirements. Assist with accident and incident documentation, investigation, and follow-up. Help prepare documentation for DOT audits, inspections, and internal compliance reviews. Track safety trends and identify opportunities to reduce accidents, violations, and unsafe driving behaviors. Communicate professionally with drivers regarding safety expectations and compliance requirements. Partner with operations and management to resolve safety and compliance issues. Maintain accurate and confidential records. Perform other safety, compliance, and transportation-related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Previous experience in transportation safety and/or DOT compliance required. Working knowledge of
DOT/FMCSA
regulations and commercial motor vehicle safety requirements. Familiarity with Hours of Service, ELD requirements, driver qualification requirements, and general fleet compliance. Ability to communicate effectively with CDL drivers, operations personnel, and management. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Comfortable using computers, electronic records, reports, and fleet-management systems. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Samsara is a major plus. Previous experience coaching or training commercial drivers. Experience reviewing telematics, dash-camera events, ELD records, or driver safety data. Experience with DOT audits, accident investigations, Driver Qualification Files, or fleet safety programs. Compensation $48,000-$50,000 per year , based on experience and qualifications. The right candidate should be comfortable working directly with professional drivers, addressing compliance issues, reviewing safety data, and holding drivers accountable while maintaining a professional and respectful approach.
