Safety & Compliance Specialist - Class A CDL Required Job Summary A transportation and logistics company is seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Specialist with a strong combination of Class A commercial driving experience, DOT/FMCSA regulatory knowledge, OSHA safety knowledge, and administrative/clerical skills . This is not a full-time driving position . The ideal candidate is an experienced Class A CDL driver who understands commercial transportation from the driver's perspective but also has the organizational and computer skills necessary to manage compliance documentation, safety records, driver files, audits, training, and day-to-day safety administration. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in an office environment, reviewing documentation, communicating with drivers and management, enforcing safety requirements, and maintaining accurate and audit-ready records. Key Responsibilities

DOT & FMCSA

Compliance Maintain and audit Driver Qualification Files (DQFs). Monitor CDL, medical certificate, MVR, and other driver compliance requirements. Maintain DOT/FMCSA-required records and documentation. Assist with DOT audits and regulatory inspections. Monitor driver compliance with company and federal safety requirements. Identify compliance deficiencies and follow through until corrected. Maintain organized and audit-ready compliance files. OSHA & Workplace Safety Assist with maintaining compliance with applicable OSHA regulations. Identify workplace safety hazards and unsafe practices. Assist with warehouse, dock, facility, and equipment safety requirements. Maintain OSHA-related safety documentation and training records. Assist with safety inspections, corrective actions, and incident investigations. Help management maintain a safe and compliant workplace. Driver Safety & Coaching Review driver safety performance and unsafe driving behaviors. Coach drivers regarding speeding, distracted driving, seat belts, following distance, defensive driving, backing, pre-trip inspections, and other safety concerns. Review dash-camera and telematics safety events. Document driver coaching and corrective actions. Assist with accident investigations and root-cause reviews. Support consistent enforcement of company safety policies. Administrative & Clerical Maintain safety, compliance, accident, training, and driver records. Perform data entry and maintain electronic and physical filing systems. Prepare reports, spreadsheets, safety scorecards, and compliance tracking documents. Track expiration dates, certifications, training requirements, and corrective actions. Prepare documentation for audits and management review. Use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other company systems regularly. Maintain accurate, professional, and confidential records. Required Qualifications Valid Class A CDL required. Minimum 3 years of verifiable Class A commercial driving experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations . Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general workplace safety requirements . Understanding of commercial vehicle and driver safety requirements. Strong administrative, clerical, and recordkeeping skills. Comfortable working on a computer for a significant portion of the workday. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and electronic filing systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, managers, and company leadership. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify compliance deficiencies. Ability to maintain confidential employee and company information. Must meet company driving and insurance requirements. Must successfully complete required background and drug screening. Preferred Qualifications Previous transportation safety or DOT compliance experience. Experience maintaining Driver Qualification Files. Experience with OSHA inspections or workplace safety programs. Experience conducting driver coaching or safety training. Experience with Samsara, Motive, Lytx, Geotab, or similar fleet telematics systems. Experience with accident or incident investigations.

OSHA 10, OSHA

30, or other recognized safety training/certifications. Experience preparing documentation for DOT, OSHA, insurance, or internal audits.
