Job Description
Fire Loss Business Development / Fire Chaser Position Summary The Fire Loss Business Development Representative is responsible for identifying residential and commercial fire losses, establishing immediate contact with property owners and decision-makers, and converting qualified fire losses into restoration projects. This position will be a key part of building and growing our Fire Division. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, comfortable working outside normal business hours, understands the urgency and sensitivity surrounding fire losses, and can build relationships with property owners, fire departments, insurance professionals, property managers, plumbers, roofers, and other referral partners. The primary objective of this position is to generate profitable fire restoration opportunities while providing property owners with professional, ethical guidance immediately following a loss. Key Responsibilities Fire Loss Response & Lead Generation Identify residential and commercial fire losses throughout the Charlotte market and surrounding service area. Respond quickly to qualified fire-loss opportunities, including evenings and weekends when necessary. Establish contact with property owners, business owners, property managers, or other authorized decision-makers. Educate customers on emergency mitigation, board-up, contents, cleaning, structural restoration, and reconstruction services. Secure signed work authorizations and emergency service agreements when appropriate. Coordinate immediate response with the company's operations team. Business Development Develop relationships with fire departments, property managers, insurance professionals, plumbers, electricians, roofers, real estate professionals, and other potential referral sources. Build a consistent pipeline of fire-loss opportunities. Conduct regular relationship-building activities and referral-source visits. Track leads, contacts, referral sources, signed projects, estimated revenue, and closed revenue in the company's CRM. Help develop additional fire-loss lead sources and market intelligence. Customer Experience Serve as an initial point of contact for customers following a fire. Communicate professionally and compassionately during a stressful situation. Clearly explain the company's role without making promises regarding insurance coverage or claim outcomes. Maintain communication until the project has been successfully transferred to the assigned project manager/estimator. Internal Coordination Immediately communicate qualified losses to management and operations. Provide accurate information regarding loss size, property type, damage, customer situation, insurance information, and emergency needs. Participate in fire-loss handoff meetings. Follow projects through the sales pipeline to ensure opportunities are not lost after initial contact. Performance Expectations Performance will be measured primarily on: Qualified fire-loss opportunities generated Signed fire-loss projects Revenue sold Gross profit generated Average fire-loss project size Lead-to-signed-job conversion rate Referral relationships developed Speed of response CRM activity and documentation Customer experience and professional conduct Preferred Qualifications Previous restoration, roofing, insurance, construction, emergency services, or outside sales experience preferred. Existing relationships within the Charlotte-area insurance, property management, construction, or emergency-response community are highly desirable. Strong sales and relationship-building ability. Comfortable responding to opportunities outside traditional business hours. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to work independently and operate with a high level of urgency. Familiarity with property insurance claims and restoration processes preferred. IICRC certifications are a plus but not required at hire. Compensation Plan Base Salary $55,000-$70,000 annually + Commission The exact base should depend heavily on whether the candidate is bringing an established book of relationships and a proven fire-loss production history.
