EHS Manager Position Summary The EHS Specialist supports the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. This role is highly hands-on, focusing on day-to-day execution of safety initiatives, inspections, training support, and incident response within a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Safety Support & Compliance Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and walkthroughs of production areas Assist with hazard identification, risk assessments, and corrective action tracking Support incident investigations, including data collection and documentation Maintain safety records, logs, and regulatory documentation (OSHA compliance) Help monitor safety performance metrics (near misses, first aid cases, etc.) Environmental Support Assist with compliance activities related to EPA, NCDEQ, and local regulations Support hazardous waste handling, labeling, and storage programs (RCRA) Help collect environmental data (waste, emissions, spill tracking) Assist with permit recordkeeping and reporting under supervision Industrial Hygiene & PPE Conduct basic exposure monitoring and sampling (as directed) Verify PPE compliance and conduct PPE inspections Support ergonomic assessments and workplace observations Assist with occupational health tracking and medical surveillance logistics Training & Engagement Deliver EHS training sessions (new hire onboarding, toolbox talks, refresher training) Maintain training records and ensure completion of required certifications Support employee engagement initiatives (safety campaigns, recognition programs) Emergency Response Assist in maintaining emergency response plans and procedures Participate in emergency drills and preparedness activities Respond to spills, incidents, and emergencies as part of the EHS team Support coordination with local emergency responders when needed Documentation & Reporting Prepare reports on inspections, incidents, and compliance activities Maintain EHS databases and tracking systems Support audits by gathering documentation and evidence Cross-Functional Support Work closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to implement safety controls Support implementation of corrective actions and preventive measures Participate in EHS committee meetings and safety initiatives QualificationsRequired Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Technology, or related field 1-3 years of EHS or manufacturing experience (internships included) Basic knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety practices Strong attention to detail and documentation skills Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear PPE Preferred Exposure to EPA or environmental compliance programs Experience in manufacturing (solar, electronics, or similar) OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Familiarity with incident reporting systems or EHS software Key Competencies Strong observational and analytical skills Effective communication and employee interaction Willingness to be hands-on on the production floor Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement Ability to follow procedures and work under supervision Work Environment Clean Room Manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, chemicals, and production operations Frequent floor presence required Must be able to walk, stand, and wear PPE for extended periods Why Join Us Be part of a company committed to safety and sustainability.
