Have Knowledge of a wide range of safety and occupional health concepts, principles, and practices, laws, and regulions applicable to the performance of complex administrive responsibilities which requires the planning, organizing, directing, opering and evaluion of a safety and occupional health program. Independently conducts safety inspections in MCCS facilities and playgrounds, special event sites, on gas/electric powered equipment, tools, fire extinguishers, eyewash stions; making recommendions for immedie corrective action when employee/pron safety is compromised. This includes writing, coordining, implementing directives, recommending approprie remedies and procedures, training, or use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Prepare and submit for review, written inspection results of all detected hazards and recommended corrective actions. Performs a variety of functions in support of the organizion's environmental program by assisting in the proper identificion, containing, labeling, storage, and disposal of a variety of hazardous merials (HazM) based on applicable federal, ste, and local regulions. Performs site inspections hazardous merial storage, transport, or operional facilities where the problems typically are easy to identify and conventional in nure. Evalues work practices, determines compliance with applicable laws and regulions, and recommends changes to control or elimine potential or existing hazards or violions. Reviews and valides hazardous merial and waste turn-in documents for accuracy and submission to Installion Resource Conservion and Recovery. Plans and carries out the procedures to complete the work and handles problems in accordance with established policies, applicable precedents, and previous training. The work involves regular and recurring exposure to modere risks or discomforts th require special safety precautions (e.g., working a storage, disposal, or spill site where there is risk of exposure to pesticides, hazardous chemicals, radioactive merials, or other pollutants). The safety/environmental technician must use protective clothing and/or gear. Work requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting and may be required to work in extreme environmental conditions. Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Performs other reled duties as assigned. EVALUATIONS

Qualificions Wh are we looking for? Must have 3 years' experience th demonstres knowledge of classificion storage and disposal of hazardous merials. Must be familiar with OSHA and EPA regulions. Must have good oral and writing skills. Must possess excellent customer service skills and knowledge of general clerical methods and techniques. Skill to prepare documention and presentions in a proper form in accordance with naval correspondence. Ability to opere a personal computer and use various software to cree and genere reports.
