As we continue being 'Here for you', we're looking for a EHS Specialist to join our Environment, Health & Safety team.
Job Purpose:
Support the Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Systems at the Ontex, Stokesdale Facility. Implement and monitor Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) activities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, industry best practices, and integrated management system standards. Job Duties and Responsibilities Stay current with health, safety, and environmental policies, regulations, and industrial best practices.
Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Identify and mitigate potential hazards through inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment.
Assess the effectiveness of industrial control mechanisms and recommend improvements.
Develop, review, and enhance safety programs to align with regulatory and organizational goals.
Communicate EHS plans, strategies, and updates across business as needed.
Promote environmental controls for waste management and air quality and water resource monitoring.
Conduct audits and measure the effectiveness of hazard control programs, ensuring continuous improvement. The Team(s) I Will Be Collaborating With Collaborate with engineering staff, quality assurance, process improvement teams, maintenance teams, and regulatory compliance specialists.
Collaborate with Ontex Group EHS to ensure compliance with
ISO 45001
(Occupational Health and Safety) and
ISO 14001
(Environmental Management) standards. Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
Associate's degree in a related field, combined with five years of general industry safety experience and valid OSHA 30-Hour General Industry and/or
OSHA 501
certification Trainer Certification. Physical Demands and Requirements Ability to conduct on-site inspections, including walking, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals, with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Core Competencies of the Role Identify and asses physical and chemical hazards and take essential steps to minimize them.
Ability to research and apply the best industrial and working practices to deliver EHS solutions.
Collaborate effectively in teams and lead EHS-related projects.
Demonstrate exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
Manage time effectively and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Develop, implement, and monitor EHS plans, objectives and standards timely and efficiently.
