A Sanitation Specialist completes sanitation inspections and monitors sanitation practices for a company or government public health agency. Maintains cleanliness and equipment sanitation at a production facility, monitors safe storage of supplies, and inspects and monitors product safety. May inspect public and food service establishments and report on compliance with public health requirements, or advise on sanitation for public health initiatives.
The Sanitation Attendant I is an entry-level position responsible for learning and performing essential cleaning and sanitation procedures within an egg processing and packing facility. This role works under direct supervision and follows established sanitation procedures to help maintain food safety, product quality, and a clean working environment. The Sanitation Attendant I may also assist the processing team with packaging duties before transitioning to cleaning and sanitation responsibilities at the end of the production shift. Job Responsibilities The Sanitation Attendant I will learn and follow established processing plant sanitation procedures and guidelines while working under supervision.
Responsibilities include:
Clean and sanitize the egg grader, packing room, and, as needed, cooler and dry storage warehouse. Sanitize the egg washing area, including conveyors, washers, blowers, egg inspection units, walls, floors, and drains. Clean and sanitize the egg grader, including egg baskets, brush areas, covers, and doors. Sanitize the packing area, including rollers, egg holders, conveyors, machine framework, floors, and drains. Review daily sanitation reports and assist with implementing corrective actions during the next sanitation period. Meet or exceed departmental performance standards without compromising quality or personal safety. Maintain a clean and organized work area to help prevent accidents. Assist with packaging eggs prior to sanitation duties, ensuring products are placed in the correct cartons, cases, or carts. Monitor products for accurate sell-by, use-by, and packaging dates. Follow company policies, work rules, food safety requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations. Learn the proper operation of basic warehouse equipment and machinery. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of and experience using basic hand tools. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Strong attention to detail. Good organizational skills. Willingness and desire to learn new processes, equipment, and skills. Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule based on operational needs, including working longer or shorter shifts when necessary. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required. One or more years of work experience preferred. Previous experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment is preferred.
