Long Island's leading butcher shop, Farmingdale Meat Market/Main Street Wholesale Meats, is looking for a Sanitation Specialist to join our team! Family-owned and operated for three generations, our company is continuously growing—join us in providing the finest meats since 1946! The Sanitation Specialist is responsible for ensuring that our facility meets mandatory federal sanitation requirements. This position requires a safety-minded individual with strong chemical awareness who can perform basic equipment breakdowns. No prior experience is required; we will train the right candidate who possesses a strong work ethic and attention to detail. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain mandatory sanitation requirements for all production equipment and facilities to ensure daily USDA operational approval. Mix, blend, and apply routine cleaning solutions to proper, safe concentrations. Perform basic equipment breakdowns for cleaning and demonstrate a basic understanding of equipment functions. Clean floors using industrial-size mops, floor machines, or power washers. Sweep sidewalks and tiled surfaces. Safely dispose of infectious waste, and empty and decontaminate trash containers. Move, rearrange, and wipe down equipment. Report minor building or equipment repair needs directly to the supervisor. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Primarily works in a wet, refrigerated production plant. Occasional outdoor work is required during both winter and summer months. Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach, and bend for prolonged periods of time. Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read, write, and utilize basic mathematical skills. Preferred Skills & Experience Experience in operation of warehouse equipment preferred Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
