Job Description
Maintenance Safety Specialist Our client, a leading industrial manufacturer, is seeking a Maintenance Safety Specialist to support maintenance, engineering, and operational teams across a large production environment. This position is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional looking to transition into a dedicated safety role, as well as safety professionals with a strong maintenance or equipment-focused background. The successful candidate will partner closely with maintenance and operations leadership to improve workplace safety, strengthen hazardous energy control programs, support contractor safety initiatives, and reduce risk associated with maintenance and high-hazard work activities. This role offers the opportunity to leverage hands-on maintenance experience while developing expertise in safety leadership and compliance. Key Responsibilities Partner with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to identify and reduce workplace risk. Develop, update, and audit lockout/tagout procedures and hazardous energy control programs. Conduct machine guarding assessments and recommend corrective actions. Support electrical safety, PPE, and maintenance-related safety initiatives. Lead contractor safety qualification, onboarding, and compliance efforts. Assist with high-risk work programs including confined space, hot work, fall protection, lifting, and equipment installations. Investigate incidents, near misses, and equipment-related safety concerns. Participate in equipment startups, shutdowns, capital projects, and process improvement initiatives. Deliver training and coaching related to maintenance safety programs and safe work practices. Serve as a technical resource for equipment safety and maintenance-related compliance activities. Qualifications Associates degree or equivalent experience 3+ years of experience in maintenance specifically within manufacturing Working knowledge of lockout/tagout, machine guarding, electrical safety, confined space, hot work, and contractor safety programs. Ability to read equipment drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. OSHA, safety, maintenance, electrical, or technical certifications are a plus but not required. #JDP
