Responsibilities Perform comprehensive inspections of food establishments, water systems, waste management facilities, and other environmental health sectors to ensure adherence to safety standards. Review and interpret technical drawings, building plans, zoning regulations, and local ordinances to assess compliance with environmental laws and building codes. Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, violations, corrective actions, and compliance status using report writing best practices. Collaborate with construction teams, government agencies, and public stakeholders to facilitate permits, licensing processes, and public permitting procedures. Analyze construction projects for compliance with environmental law, construction regulations, building code compliance, and local building codes. Stay current on Ohio regulations related to food safety and environmental health standards; provide guidance on regulatory updates. Manage compliance documentation efficiently using Microsoft Office tools; maintain accurate records of inspections, violations, permits, and correspondence. Provide excellent customer service by addressing community concerns, explaining regulatory requirements clearly, and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders. Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to evaluate construction plans for environmental compliance; assist in zoning regulation enforcement as needed. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health Science, Public Health, or a related field from an accredited institution. Valid registration or certification as an Environmental Health Specialist or Environmental Health Specialist In Training. Familiarity with Ohio Unifom Food Safety Code regulations pertaining to food safety; experience with public health initiatives is highly desirable. Strong report writing skills with the ability to prepare clear and detailed inspection reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook for data management and report preparation. Excellent communication skills for effective customer service interactions; ability to interpret technical drawings accurately.
