Job Description

Cooper Farms is a family-owned farm and food company based in Northwest Ohio for over 85 years. A commitment to teamwork and quality has made us one of the top turkey, hog and egg companies in the U.S. and awarded the company and its team an excellent reputation. Our Oakwood Division in Paulding County, Ohio, breeds hogs and turkeys while providing the best care to our animals in a small team setting. Cooper Farms is currently seeking a 1st shift Safety Specialist to join our team in Oakwood. The primary goal of this position is to assist the Safety Manager in the efficient and effective operation of all respective programs.
SHIFT HOURS
Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:30pm
STARTING RATE
From $19.00/hr
ADDITIONAL PAY
Monthly and year-end profit sharing bonuses (dependent upon company performance)
Job Functions:
Assist the Safety Manager in the administration of all company safety programsHave working knowledge of all aspects of the safety department including, but not limited to, all the responsibilities of the Safety AssistantTake the lead and own at least two safety programs by reviewing, updating, implementing, training, and maintaining to ensure complianceConduct hazard analysis within the workplace. Inspect facilities, work areas, and equipment. Monitor work practices and procedures for compliance with health and safety requirements and identify corrective actionsBe proficient in root cause analysis to be able to assist/train managers and supervisors in the investigation process to arrive at a sound corrective action to prevent further incidentsInvestigate incidents and accidents to identify the root cause and how to mitigate the hazards identifiedPrepare and distribute written reports on the findingsContinuous further education with attending safety specific programs/classes
